Amrun is a bauxite mining operation located on the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, Australia. Operated by Rio Tinto, it commenced production in 2018 and is designed to replace the aging East Weipa mine. The project involves the development of two mining areas—Boyd Point-Pera Head and Norman Creek—and the construction of associated processing, infrastructure, and port facilities.

The mine has a production capacity of 22.8 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with potential for future expansion up to 50Mtpa. Amrun's output is primarily exported to China and distributed to Rio Tinto's Yarwun and Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) refineries.

In 2025, Rio Tinto announced plans to expand Amrun's production capacity through the Kangwinan project, named after the Wik Waya people's traditional name for the area. This expansion aims to almost double bauxite production from the Weipa Southern operations, with first output expected as early as 2029.

Amrun's development has significantly contributed to the local economy, creating numerous jobs and supporting infrastructure projects in the region.The name "Amrun" was chosen by Traditional Owners to reflect their deep connection to the land.

Amrun works alongside Black Star Radio, helping share community news, job opportunities, and cultural stories, ensuring Indigenous voices are heard and connected across Cape York. The Amrun station, operating on 94.1 FM, joined the Black Star network in October 2020 and serves approximately 630 people working on the mine site.
